The focus area is the mode where the camera focuses on a subject in all ranges of the image. Focus area selection is choosing between whether your focus is one single object, a group, or singling out an object in a larger group. The focus mode changes the behavior of focus, whether a camera will reattempt to focus every time a subject moves or if it will just land in one distinct area to lock the focus no matter where the subject moves to. Most cameras have two focus modes which are AF-S (single mode) and AF-C (continuous mode). The AF-S will focus exactly where you have placed your focus in your viewfinder and the AF-C continuous mode will constantly readjust to where your subject moves to.
